When I wrote how crafting should be involved with World of Warcraft housing decor, I did not expect Blizzard to deliver so well and before the Midnight expansion has even been released. While I spent time organizing my house plots, my focus has been on leveling crafting skills. This has been a great opportunity to dust off characters from around Warband campfires and visit fondly remembered locales. Seeing players flying around Winterspring, Terrokar Forest, and even Revendreth, for lumber and materials makes those areas feel alive again.

I say this as someone who has played since 2005. For more recent players, I hope pursuing crafting decor provides incentive to explore the vast Warcraft world they would probably otherwise not visit, thanks to leveling path shuffles. These travels also serve as a way to learn the backstories of Azeroth’s factions.
Faction Reputation and Low Level Questing
While this piece is about crafting, reputation decor should not be overlooked. Faction quartermasters are conveniently located next to city flight masters and sell House Decor for gold. Some items may be restricted by reputation level but this is easily remedied with some low-level questing.

Even if a player is not interested in decor, I recommend playing through starter zones to obtain a sense of faction and racial identity, something that is gutted in the modern game. Simply click Low-Level Quests on the map filter and exit the capital gates.

Completing low-level quests do not reward experience to high level players but provide reputation. There is also the benefit of loot, to obtain new transmog appearances, or to post on the Auction House.

Faction Professional Trainers
Getting back to crafting. The professional trainers in the Azeroth cities only offer training in Classic and Cataclysm recipes. I would say this is due to these campaigns taking place on Azeroth. Even though Wrath of the Lich King also took place on Azeroth, it was on a different continent, so players need to visit trainers in the appropriate Dalaran.

A Tale of Two Dalarans
It is important to note there are two Dalarans, not counting the one destroyed at the beginning of The War Within. I guess that really makes three. To learn Wrath of the Lich King recipes, step through the Dalaran – Crystalsong Forest portal in your capital portal room. If you are interested in Legion recipes, use the Azsuna portal and take the flight path to that expansion’s Dalaran. You can explore or ask a city guard for directions.

Selecting Expansions
Once you learn the crafting for a particular expansion, you can display only those recipes through the crafting Filter. To help keep track of accumulated lumber and materials, right click on the recipes and save as Favorites. This will pin them to the top of the list, regardless of what expansion is selected.

Wrap Up
You may already know all of this or be learning it for the first time. Either way, you have enjoy World of Warcraft housing as much as I have. Sure, some things can be tweaked and I am sure they will be. Until then, keep on crafting. If you want a deeper dive, check Wowhead for crafting and reputation guides.
