“To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” – Kurt Vonnegut
I am Matthew Spizuco. By day, I am a mild mannered husband, father, and office professional. By night, I descend into the keep of my imagination, casting spells as a writer and aspiring author.
I have loved stories of the fantastic since I was able to turn on the TV. New York’s Channel 9, WOR, 4:30 afterschool movies introduced me to Godzilla, King Kong, Planet of the Apes, Them!, and many more. My brother letting me stay up way too late to watch Creature Feature and Chiller gave me an appreciation of horror, and a dreadful fear of the dark for nearly a decade. I was captivated by the stories and settings of Star Trek, Twilight Zone, and The Outer Limits. I turned the pages and entered the worlds of The Lord of The Rings and Dune. My mother put my comic book collection in the attic because I spent more time on the Avengers and Doctor Strange than my homework (I took them back the first time she went food shopping). Dungeons & Dragons sent me on death defying adventures with my friends, and sometimes against them. Logging into World of Warcraft for the first time was akin to a religious experience.
Deep In The Keep is a platform for my imagination. It is the place to provide updates on my projects, triumphs, and failings as I strive to live a creative life, and along the way, share my thoughts on writing, gaming, movies, and who knows what else.
